There are two passages that have a deep impact on me because there is huge amounts of thoughts submerged into them.
The first passage has been derived from page 55 (from the book Fahrenheit 451).
"School is shortened, discipline relaxed, philosophies, histories, languages dropped, English and spelling gradually gradually neglected, finally almost completely ignored. Life is immediate, job counts, pleasure lies all about after work."
The following quote has been derived from page 59:
"You must understand that our civilization is so vast that we can't have minorities upset and stirred. Ask yourself, What do we want in this country, above all? People want to be happy isn't that right? Haven't you heard it all your life? I want to be happy people say. Well aren't they? Don't we keep them moving? Don't we give them fun? That's all we live for, isn't it? For pleasure, for titillation? And you must admit your culture provides plenty of these."

"Colored people don't like Little Black Sambo. Burn it. White people don't feel good about Uncle Tom's Cabin. Burn it. Some one's written a book on tobacco and cancer of the lungs? The cigarette people are weeping? Burn the book. Serenty Montag, peace Montag. Take your fight fight outside. Better yet, into the incinerator. Funerals are unhappy and pagan? Estimate them, too. Five minutes after a person is dead he is on is way to the Big Flue, The Incineratores served by the helicopters all over the country. Ten minutes after death of a man's a speck of black dust. Let's not quiblle over individuals with with memoriums. Forget them. Burn all , burn everything. Fire is bright and fire is clean."
This was life in the novel farenheit 451. Burning everything that is a source to conflict, a source to arguments, debates and most importantly a source to a normal life. Burning WAS the solution to all problems. Burning deslolated people from thinking from imaging, that there might be a world far beyond their screens and their rubbish talks. I believe that through these two passages a number of important conclutions can be drawn about the themes of this novel. It comes back to power again. This dytopian society used the "power to burn" to end all sorrow. They burnt everything that might stand in the way of happiness. They burnt truth. Books.
Another thing that i noticed about this book was there was no mention of feelings of the characters. Not once did one character say something even close to "i feel....". It is surprising to observe that these characters do not feel.
"Fire is bright and fire is clean". I believe that this is a very strong quote. This is probably the quote that is used to brainwash fire men in the novel. Fire is used to delete everything that might cause any sort of trouble. Fire is all it takes. I believe that this quote is ironic because after all, fire is bright and fire is clean...
