What is the mood of this novel? Do you find this novel saddens you in any way? Why?

This particular novel starts in a very predictable and monotonous manner. The mood builds up as the first signs of inhumanity are revealed such as the executions being watched, and the negative impact on people, in a society where "Thoughtcrime does not entail death: thoughtcrime is death." It is a crime to think beyond what the party wants you to think. I believe that the saddest part of it is, that the citizens do not realize that they are contributing to the development, of this dystopian society, every second of their lives without having the slightest idea that what they are doing is stupid.It is also very depressing that everyone is BEING WATCHED everyday everywhere. Voices are recorded. There is no privacy. Moreover emotions are squeezed out from the human body. Citizens are not human beings anymore, but "tin men" without hearts. They become slaves of the Party and lick their feet throughout their lives closing their eyes to everything else. They become robotic. The party controlled emotions."It was terribly dangerous to let your thoughts wander when you were in any public place or within range of a telescreen. The smallest thing could give you away. A nervous tic, an unconscious look of anxiety, a habit of muttering to yourself—anything that carried with it the suggestion of abnormality, of having something to hide.
